Russian, Hungarian leaders welcome removal of obstacles to Paks NPP enlargement
MOSCOW. March 7 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban shared satisfaction with the European Commission's decision to lift restrictions from the construction of new Paks Nuclear Power Plant units during a telephone conversation, the Kremlin press service said.
"The parties discussed key aspects of bilateral relations, including progress in implementing the agreements reached during the Russian president's visit to Budapest on February 2, 2017. In particular, they said they were content with the European Commission's decision removing obstacles to implementing the project of building two new power units of the Hungarian Paks Nuclear Power Plant with the Rosatom state corporation's involvement," the statement said.
Putin and Orban also touched upon current international problems of mutual interest, it said.
The conversation was arranged at Hungary's initiative, the Russian presidential press service said.
