DPR demines, prepares to restart Donetsk filtration station
YASYNUVATA (Donetsk region). March 8 (Interfax) - Mine clearance efforts at the Donetsk filtration station (DFS) are over, a spokesman of the self-proclaimed Donetsk people's republic (DPR) Defense Ministry said.
"Demining efforts at DFS are completed. The work shift has already arrived at the filtration station," he told reporters on Wednesday.
The station is being prepared for a restart, he said.
The situation around DFS is calm so far, there is no shelling there, an Interfax correspondent reported from the scene.
DFS provides water for the Ukrainian town of Avdiivka, the Yasynuvata town outside Kyiv's control and a part of Donetsk.
The DPR said on Tuesday that repair of the power lines in the area of the Kruta Balka populated locality which provide electricity to the DFS and Avdiivka had been completed. The Ukrainian side also said repairing brigades had restored the power line leading to Avdiivka and electric power supply had been resumed to the town and the Avdiivka coke plant.
The Ukrainian side has confirmed its security pledges to the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) and the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) in order to begin mine clearance efforts in the DFS area, and the Emergency Situations Ministry mine disposal experts have begun demining efforts in the DFS area, the DPR said on Wednesday.
