WikiLeaks info on wiretapping of Russian officials by CIA deserves attention - Peskov
MOSCOW. March 9 (Interfax) - The Kremlin believes that the information on the wiretapping of Russian officials by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) published by WikiLeaks deserves attention, but is not new, Russian presidential press officer Dmitry Peskov said.
"We have given attention to this published information, together with the whole global community. Of course, they deserve attention, one should read attentively here," Peskov told reporters on Thursday, commenting on a question about the report posted on the WikiLeaks site stating that the CIS is using five servers for wiretapping Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"As you know, Washington doesn't hide the fact that they are actively wiretapping Russian officials, our Ambassador Kislyak, etc. No one is hiding it. Therefore, WikiLeaks doesn't even have to resolve anything here, it can just guess," Peskov said.
On Tuesday, WikiLeaks published 8,700 documents stating that CIA officials had allegedly learned to use vulnerabilities in computers, smart phones, routers and even TV sets to get information on users. WikiLeaks representatives said the published information accounts for only one percent of the documents on this issue possessed by the organization.
