All WADA recommendations on forming RUSADA supervisory board taken into account - Russian Olympic Committee head

MOSCOW. March 9 (Interfax) - All the recommendations issued by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on forming the supervisory board at the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) have been taken into account, Russian Olympic Committee President Alexander Zhukov said.

"The elections of members of the RUSADA supervisory board were held in close contact with the international anti-doping agency and all recommendations from the WADA on forming the supervisory board have been taken into consideration, particularly those regarding invitation of independent members to the supervisory board," Zhukov told reporters on Thursday.

Members of the RUSADA supervisory board include cosmonaut Sergei Ryazansky, "who once participated in the lighting ceremony of the Olympic Flame for the Sochi [2014 Winter] Olympic Games, while working in outer space", Zhukov said.

RUSADA saw its WADA membership suspended in November 2015 as was recommended by a WADA-appointed independent commission, which alleged a widespread use of doping in Russian track-and-field athletics.
