Village of Luhanske comes under heavy artillery fire overnight - DPR
DONETSK/ KYIV. March 10 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Armed Forces fired tank guns and artillery on the village of Luhanske overnight into Friday, the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) said.
"The Ukrainian Armed Forces' 152mm-caliber artillery and tanks targeted the village of Luhanske overnight. The shelling was heavy and continued almost up until the morning. In addition to that, strikes on Staromykhailivka were recorded. Reports on destruction in residential areas are being verified," a DPR Defense Ministry spokesman told reporters on Friday.
Kyiv, for its part, said it had recorded 80 strikes on Ukrainian positions in Donbas over the previous 24 hours, in which six Ukrainian servicemen were injured.
In the Mariupol sector, militia forces used mortars to shell Krasnohorivka, Novotroyitske, Vodyane, Maryinka, Pavlopil and Bohdanivka, and fired grenade launchers and small arms on Lebedynske, Starohnativka, Taramchuk, Maryinka, Novohryhorivka, Shyrokyne, Chermalyk, Vodyane and Hnutove, the press service of Kyiv's military operation said. Snipers were also targeting Talakivka, it said.
In the Luhansk sector, the militia fired mortars to shell Krymske, Novooleksandrivka and Popasna and grenade launchers and small arms upon Novozvanivka, Novooleksandrivka and Stanytsia Luhanska, it said.
In the Donetsk sector, militia forces fired mortars upon Nevelske, Mayorsk, Avdiivka, Dacha and Luhanske, grenade launchers and small arms upon Opytne, Kamyanka, Luhanske, Pisky, Nevelske, Avdiivka, Zaitseve and Troyitske, small arms upon Mayorsk, and an anti-aircraft gun upon Troyitske, the press center said.
Snipers were also targeting Avdiivka and Zaitseve, it said.
