Russia, Iran to continue talks on Iranian oil supplies

MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - Iran and Russia will continue detailed talks on supplies of 100,000 barrels of Iranian oil per day, co-chairman of the Russia-Iran intergovernmental commission Mahmoud Vaezi said during a meeting with Russian Energy minister Alexander Novak.

"Amir Zamaninia [Deputy Iranian Oil Minister for International Relations] is part of our delegation, and today he will discuss agreements on the supply of 100,000 barrels per day," he said.

Russian procurement procedures for Iranian oil mainly involve physical supply, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told journalists on March 7.

The Promsyryeimport foreign economic corporation, a federal state unitary enterprise within the Energy Ministry, plans to buy the oil from Iran on Russia's behalf.

"This is a normal trading operation. That is to say this is not a purchase of oil for Russia's needs, we have enough resources of our own. But even so, before the end, we will say, the conditions of trading operations are wearing out between our partners," Novak said.

This involves amending the memorandum of cooperation that was signed in 2014.
