Moscow-Ankara talks on discontinuation of ferry services with Crimea by Turkey proceeding in due course - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. March 16 (Interfax) - Moscow and Ankara are discussing the discontinuation by Turkey of its ferry services with Crimea in due course, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
"We are maintaining steady contacts with our Turkish counterparts through various channels, so we are discussing this and other complex issues with them in due course," Zakharova said at a news briefing in Moscow on Thursday when asked to comment on Turkey's ending ferry services with Crimea.
That the parties are discussing such complicated issues is a sign they are moving in the right direction, she said.
On March 10 it emerged that Turkish ports stopped accepting vessels from Crimea, which delivered citrus fruit, vegetables, building supplies and consumer goods to the peninsula. The reason behind such a change in the region is not known.
