Peskov on statement by defense for Moscow theater hostage crisis plaintiffs: This is court's scope
MOSCOW. March 21 (Interfax) - Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov has declined to comment on the determination of the plaintiffs in the case dealing with the 2002 Moscow theater hostage crisis to insist on prosecuting officials, saying that the matter is within the scope of the courts.
Reporters asked Peskov on Tuesday whether he agreed with the plaintiffs' defense that everyone responsible for the fatalities during and after the hostage standoff, including the organizers of the rescue effort, should be held liable.
"This is an area of the courts, and we do not think it is possible to interfere [in its competence] or to make any comment on this case," Peskov said.
