Contract for delivery of 4 frigates of Project 11356 to India to be concluded in 2017 - Rostec

LANGKAWI (Malaysia). March 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Negotiations on the delivery to India of four frigates of Project 11356, two of which are under construction in Russia and the other two will be built by an Indian shipyard, are due to begin soon, Rostec Director for International Cooperation and Regional Policy Viktor Kladov told a press conference at the LIMA 2017 show in Malaysia.

"A contract may be signed this year; the shipyard to be chosen by the Indian side for building the second duo [of frigates] is a key question for us," Kladov said.

"Profound negotiations have recently been conducted with the Indian partners" concerning those frigates, he said.

The Yantar Baltic shipyard is expected to finalize the construction of two frigates, and the other two frigates will be built in India.

India has been supplied with two trios of frigates of Project 11356 built in Russia by United Shipbuilding Corporation enterprises.
