Conflicting Syrian parties cannot avoid direct dialogue - Lavrov
MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax) - Moscow advocates for a direct dialogue between the conflicting parties in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"If anyone is earnestly concerned about [ceasefire] observance, they have to get seriously engaged in efforts to agree upon relevant decisions rather than strike a pose. All those invited are expected to arrive in Geneva and have a businesslike conversation involving all Syrian parties in Geneva. It's impossible to avoid a direct dialogue," Lavrov told reporters on Wednesday.
Russia supports "the efforts Staffan de Mistura is making to organize such a dialogue", Lavrov said.
