X5 Retail to draft big data strategy by year's end
MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - X5 Retail Group, Russia's biggest retailer, plans to draft a strategy to manage big data by the end of 2017.
"The company has a strategy for the development of all key business functions: marketing, logistics, supply chain management and so on. Last year we came to the realization that we need a separate strategy for managing big data and we began developing it at the beginning of 2017," X5's chief marketing strategist, Vadim Kapustin told Interfax.
He said the big data strategy should be drafted by the end of the year. It will concern all aspects of the retailer's business, including customer relations, pricing, logistics and store operations.
The objective is to aggregate the big data of all the company's business functions, apply modern analytics to them and learn to correctly interpret them, Kapustin said.
"We're confident that the integration of the data of all three retail chains will enable X5 to achieve qualitatively new results. The amounts of accumulated information are already large, and in order to work with them effectively we will expand our staff of data scientists," Kapustin said.
X5 Retail operates the Pyaterochka, Perekrestok and Karusel chains.
