Russia to make first shipment of wheat to China - Rosselkhoznadzor

MOSCOW. March 27 (Interfax) - Russia is dispatching a first major shipment of wheat to China from Krasnoyarsk territory.

Phytosanitary documents on a shipment of 500 tonnes of wheat from the 2016 harvest in Krasnoyarsk territory have been processed, Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) said.

Krasnoyarsk territory is one of the Russian regions that has been cleared to export grain to China. The others are Altai territory and the Omsk and Novosibirsk regions.

It is the first time wheat from Krasnoyarsk territory has been exported to China. The grain was grown in Uzhursky district.

The shipment is being made under the protocol signed at the end of 2015 by Rosselkhoznadzor and China's General Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

It is the first major shipment of Russian wheat to China, a Rosselkhoznadzor representative told Interfax, noting that previously only small lots have been exported.

Rosselkhoznadzor also said growth has been registered in exports of other agricultural products to China.
