Peskov sees U.S. Falcon 9 rocket flight as space technology breakthrough
MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - The Kremlin says it is closely following breakthroughs in rocket and space technologies and sees the flight of the U.S. rocket Falcon 9 as an important achievement.
"Certainly, the Kremlin and our agencies that oversee innovations and science are very closely following technological breakthroughs in the world. It is really a very important achievement," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
The Russian space industry also has done certain groundwork enabling it to successfully compete with foreign companies, he said.
"Roscosmos [state corporation] head [Igor] Komarov has told the president more than once in reports that there are also quite advanced and breakthrough ideas upon which our specialists are working," Peskov said.
"It is competition, and this competition is quite stiff," he said.
"We have every reason to expect that we will be able to play a worthy role in this competition," he said.
