Writer Bitov regrets death of Yevgeny Yevtushenko
MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - Writer Andrei Bitov regrets the death of poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko, who, according to Bitov, once declared himself the best poet and ever remained number one.
"It's a great pity. Let other people judge what kind of poet he was, but he was a generous man. Having declared himself number one, he was number one ever since," Bitov told Interfax on Saturday.
Poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko died in the United States at the age of 84 on Saturday.
