LPR rejects Kyiv's accusations of militia shelling Krymske village in Donbas
LUHANSK. April 4 (Interfax) - Andriy Marochko, a spokesperson for the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) militia, has denied Ukraine's allegations that the LPR militia shelled Ukrainian Armed Forces positions in the vicinity of the Krymske village.
The press center of the Ukrainian special operation headquarters in Donbas reported earlier that the LPR militia had fired mortars upon the Ukrainian Armed Forces positions near Krymske on Monday.
"Our armed forces are observing 'the regime of silence' as declared, which the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) has confirmed. We are not firing at the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the fact that they have opened fire at us has been recorded by the Joint Center for Control and Coordination," Marochko said in commenting on the Ukrainian command's statement.
At the same time, the general situation on the line of contact has a tendency toward deterioration, Marochko said. The Ukrainian military has breached the ceasefire twice in the past 24 hours by shelling the people's militia positions near the town of Pervomaisk and the community of Kalynivka with the use of 82mm mortars, anti-aircraft systems, infantry fighting vehicle weapons, grenade launchers and small arms, he said.
"Over 60 shells, mines and grenades have been fired upon the republic's territory. A people's militia serviceman was injured in the shell attacks," Marochko said.
