Russia wants to peacefully co-exist with Baltic states - Ozerov
MOSCOW. April 6 (Interfax) - Russia does not pose a threat to the Baltic states and wants peaceful relations with them, Viktor Ozerov, the head of the Federation Council committee on defense and security, said.
"There has never been and, I am confident, there will not be any threat to the Baltic states from Russia," Ozerov said during a meeting with military attaches in the Federation Council, responding to a question from an Estonian representative.
Ozerov said Russia wants to peacefully co-exist with the Baltic states and rebuild economic relations that were destroyed after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Ozerov said Russia considers the fact that NATO infrastructure is moving closer to its borders to be a threat to itself.
"NATO itself is not regarded by Russia as a threat to our security and territorial integrity, but we have now grown accustomed to a situation that, if we agree on something sometime, it has to be implemented, and if something is done, it is explained for what and why it is happening," the senator said.
