All militant counterattacks after missile strike on Shayrat rebuffed, at least 150 terrorists killed - Russian Armed Forces General Staff
MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax-AVN) - All counterattacks by militants in Syria, who took advantage of the United States' missile strike upon the Shayrat airbase for their ends, have been rebuffed, Col. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi, chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff's Main Operational Directorate, said on Tuesday.
"Having taken advantage of the results of the U.S. cruise missile strike upon the Shayrat airfield, from which Syrian military aircraft were operating in the Hama and Palmyra areas, terrorists carried out counterattacks against government forces from the southwest. All militant attacks have been rebuffed," Rudskoi said at a news briefing on Tuesday.
"Total losses amount to two tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles and eight pickup trucks with large-caliber machineguns, and also over 150 terrorists," he said.
Syrian bomb disposal experts, trained by specialists from the Russian Armed Forces Mine Action Center, are completing the demining of East Aleppo neighborhoods which have been freed from militants, the general said.
"Efforts are under way to restore houses and other social infrastructure facilities. To date, over 7,000 families have returned to the city of Aleppo," Rudskoi said.
