Gazprom Export signs 5.3 bln euro contract with Eustream on gas transportation to 2050

MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - Gazprom Export LLC concluded a contract totaling 5.3 billion euro (325.358 billion rubles) with Slovakia's Eustream a.s. on access to the gas transportation system until October 1, 2050, Gazprom Export reported.

Gazprom Export did not publish the text of the contract, citing confidentiality. The contract enters force on March 1, 2017.

The previous transit contract between Eustream and Gazprom Export covered the period 2009-2028.

Slovakia is currently one of the main transit countries for Russian gas bound for Europe along the Uzhgorod corridor from Ukraine. Plans by Gazprom to bypass Ukraine using the Nord Stream 2 and TurkStream gas pipelines have been cause for concern in Bratislava over the implications for Slovakia's gas transportation system. At the same time, Gazprom has given assurances that gas from the Nord Stream 2 pipeline will travel to the Baumgarten hub in Austria through the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

On the other hand, Eustream is one of the most active organizers of reverse gas supplies to Ukraine, which have enabled Kyiv to get by without purchasing any gas directly from Russia for almost 18 months.
