Vigor, experience and enthusiasm of space industry workers secure Russia's place amongst leading space nations - Medvedev
MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has congratulated rocket and space industry professionals and veterans on Cosmonautics Day.
"We profusely thank everyone who has made our country a great space nation on the occasion of Cosmonautics Day. We are proud of the past achievements and the current accomplishments of rocket and space industry professionals, from Vostochny Cosmodrome builders to members of long expeditions to the International Space Station (ISS). I am confident that your vigor, experience and aspiration for new feats will forever secure Russia's place amongst the leaders of space exploration," Medvedev said in his greetings published on the governmental website on Wednesday.
"Our legend, Yury Gagarin, paved the way to the stars for all of humankind. This feat, however, rests upon the labor of thousands of people: designers, engineers, academicians, inventors and builders who were dreaming of space and did everything they could to make their dream come true," he said.
"Those outstanding people made our country a space pioneer: they were the first to launch a satellite, to create multi-seat spaceships and space stations and to perform the first docking of spaceships. Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman in space, and Alexei Leonov was the first to set foot in open space," the prime minister said.
He wished health, success and all the very best to all industry professionals and their families.
