Question of maps separating opposition, terrorists being exploited to support Damascus - HNC

MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - The armed Syrian opposition believes the question of so-called maps drawing separation lines between the opposition and terrorists in Syria is being exploited to provide support for government forces.

It is already clear to them, who is a terrorist and who is not, it is time Russia stopped speculating on this issue, which is being used to support the Syrian regime's military activities, Yahya al-Aridi, an advisor to the Syrian opposition's High Negotiating Committee (HNC), told Interfax on Wednesday.

Then common sense would prevail in Russia and it will find itself among other countries of the civilized world on the question of Syrian crisis settlement, he said.

The Russian military have said that having no maps drawing distinction lines make it difficult to fight Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIL terrorists (both terrorist organizations are banned in Russia).

Meanwhile, the Russian president's special representative for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev said after talks in Astana in late January that Russian military experts and the Syrian armed opposition had managed to agree on the lines drawing distinction between ISIL and the armed opposition.
