New Iskander supplies to Yerevan not planned shortly, but issue under discussion - Armenian ambassador to Russia

MOSCOW. April 13 (Interfax) - Deliveries of Iskander tactical missile systems to Yerevan are not expected in the near future, but this issue is being discussed, Armenian Ambassador to Russia Vardan Toghanyan said.

"Iskanders are already in Armenia, new deliveries are not being discussed," Toghanyan told Interfax.

"Iskanders which we have purchased are already on combat duty, as for the supply of a new batch in the long-term, this issue is being discussed now," the ambassador said.

Military-technical cooperation with Russia carries on, talks are ongoing to upgrade the Armenian Armed Forces and to buy new types of weapons, he said.

"We are maintaining active bilateral dialogue to establish cooperation between the defense and industrial sectors, this is an important aspect of our cooperation, and we see major potential here, in particular, this concerns the equipping and re-equipping of our armed forces," Toghanyan also said.
