Slutsky sees dropping by U.S. of super-powerful bomb in Afghanistan as disproportionate use of force intended to 'impress' world
MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - By using a super-powerful bomb in Afghanistan, the United States has sent a message to the world that it intends to keep its hegemony in the unipolar world, Russian State Duma international affairs committee head Leonid Slutsky told Interfax.
"It is a signal to everyone that the U.S. does not intend to stop building a unipolar world architecture and does not shun disproportionately using force in order to impress the international community and support its claims to leadership," Slutsky told Interfax on Friday.
The Duma deputy also said he disagreed with the interpretation of the use of this bomb as a "signal to the DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea]".
It is necessary to take a broader look at this matter, Slutsky said, suggesting that it was a message to different parts of the world.
"The U.S. is trying to behave in an intimidating way", he said, adding that "this, regrettably, is no different from the previous administration's course of action."
"The sole main conclusion is that it is the obvious disproportionate use of force just in order to show that the U.S. is against terrorism, but in reality they support Jabhat al-Nusra in Syria in order to overthrow al-Assad," Slutsky said, describing this entire situation as quite strange.
"This is upsetting, but we will continue to work," he said.
