Investigators working on Markelov case request arrest of director of Marii-El republic's television channel
MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - Investigators have requested the arrest of Natalya Kozhanova, director of the limited liability company Telekompaniya 12 Region, who is implicated in the corruption case involving former Marii-El head Leonid Markelov, Moscow Basmanny Court press secretary Yunona Tsareva told Interfax.
"The Basmanny court has received a request from investigative bodies seeking the arrest of Natalya Igorevna Kozhanova, general director of the limited liability company Telekompaniya 12 region, the second person implicated in the case, who is charged with the commission of crimes under Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Russian Criminal Code," Tsareva said.
A criminal case has been opened against Markelov, who is charged with receiving a bribe in an amount of over 235 million rubles, Investigative Committee official Svetlana Petrenko told Interfax on Thursday.
Markelov received over 235 million rubles for patronage and assistance in the property payment of state support funds for the development of the agricultural sector from Nikolai Krivash, founder of the Akashevskaya factory, through his authorized representative Nataliya Kozhanova, she said.
