Bloomberg to open TV and office in Kazakhstan's Astana

ALMATY. April 17 (Interfax) - Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with top business and financial leaders as part of his working trip to the US, the Kazakh government's press service said.

Sagintayev and founder and CEO of Bloomberg and ex-Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg discussed cooperation in the development of the financial market of Kazakhstan and the International Financial Center Astana, and agreed on the opening of Bloomberg TV and an office in Astana.

At a meeting with Michael Goettler, Global President of the Rare Disease Business at Pfizer, the parties reached an agreement on the construction of a vaccine plant in Kazakhstan, the press office said.

The Prime Minister held a meeting with John S. Watson, Chairman and CEO of Chevron Corporation. The parties discussed the situation and prospects for the development of the world market of petroleum products, the expansion of cooperation in oil and gas projects in Kazakhstan, as well as the TCO Future Growth Project.

Sagintayev met with ex-mayor of New York Rudolph Giuliani to discuss cooperation in telecommunications and infrastructure.

The Prime Minister also discussed issues of strengthening financial and banking cooperation, as well as investment opportunities in Kazakhstan with James Forese, President of Citigroup.

At a meeting with Jamie Miller, President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Transportation, the parties spoke about cooperation in the gas industry, with GE Transportation being an active participant in the development of Kazakhstan's oil and gas sector, in particular the Karachaganak, Tengiz and Kashagan projects, where the company's equipment is successfully being used.

The head of the Kazakh government met with the management of OSI Systems, a developer of security screening products, and reached an agreement to equip customs checkpoints in Kazakhstan's Astana airport with Rapiscan security scanning systems.

The head of the Kazakh government in New York met with representatives of the largest financial institutions of the USA: Citigroup, Mastercard, Berkley, Morgan Stanley, BlackRock and Goldman Sachs, as well as world rating agencies: Moody's, Standard & Poor's, Greylock Capital, Guggenheim International, AllianceBernstein, Public Capital Advisors and Business Council of International Understanding.
