Russian woman suspected of affiliation with terror organization detained at Kyiv airport at Interpol's request

KYIV. April 17 (Interfax) - Ukrainian border guards have detained in Kyiv a Russian citizen who is on the international wanted persons list, the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service said.

The woman was detained at Boryspil Airport while passengers of an Amman-Kyiv flight were passing border controls on Monday, the press service said.

"The 30-year-old woman, a citizen of the Russian Federation, is wanted in the context of a search for criminals via Interpol channels on the basis of Russian Criminal Code Article 205.5, Part 2 dealing with the organization of activities of a terrorist organization and participation in such organization's activities. She arrived in Ukraine from Jordan with four underage children to obtain refugee status," the report said.

The detention has been reported to Ukraine's Interpol Bureau and the Ukrainian Security Service.

The detainee was informed of the relevant details of Ukrainian law and provided with a memo containing information for people arriving in Ukraine on lawful grounds for the purpose of being recognized as refugees or people in need of additional protection in Ukraine.

The woman and her children have been handed over to the National Police.
