Iran to give immediate rebuff to external aggression - ambassador to Russia
MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - Iran will give an instant rebuff to aggressors, if the country is exposed to a threat to its integrity, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei said.
"Iran's combat capabilities are largely growing, when friendship with various countries is a principled strategy of the foreign policy of our country. We have never sought a war with other countries. Iran's history over the past 200 years confirms this. Alongside, it is obvious that the Iranian armed forces will not hesitate to give a rebuff to aggressors and view the protection of territorial integrity of their country as their top priority," the diplomat said in his speech on the occasion of Day of Iranian Army on Tuesday.
"Iran and Russia, realizing the dangers and threats, which are stemming from the expansion of terrorist networks at the level of the region and the world, have enhanced their cooperation," he also said.
Good cooperation and sharing of experience in the area of ground, seaborne and airborne weapons has been established between the defense ministers and the chiefs of the General Staffs of the two countries, Sanaei said.
"The supply of S-300 air defense systems to Iran is an indicator of confidence between the two countries in defense cooperation," he said.
