Moldovan president to celebrate WWII victory anniversary in Moscow
CHISINAU. April 19 (Interfax) - Moldovan President Igor Dodon and a group of WWII veterans will celebrate Victory Day in Moscow.
The president confirmed his intention at a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Moldova Farit Mukhametshin on Wednesday.
Dodon said on Facebook he "had informed the Russian ambassador of the outcome of the Bishkek meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the decision made in principle to grant Moldova an observer status in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)."
In addition, the sides conferred on the initiative to implement a mixed electoral system in Moldova.
"Considering the long use of this system in Russia, I suggested that we exchange opinions on this matter," Dodon said.
He confirmed the intention to celebrate the Victory Day on Moscow's Red Square on May 9.
"Notably, this is the first time in a decade that the Moldovan president will participate [in those celebrations] together with a group of WWII veterans," Dodon said.
