UN Court in The Hague upholds obvious fact that Russia's support to terrorism unproved in Ukraine's lawsuit - Duma int'l committee
MOSCOW. April 19 (Interfax) - The UN Court in The Hague rejection to impose temporary measures on Russia as part of Ukraine's lawsuit is quite natural, because there is no evidence of Russia's backing terrorism, State Duma international affairs committee first deputy chairman Dmitry Novikov told Interfax on Wednesday.
"If any court demonstrates minimal objectivity in pronouncing judgments, it should make these decisions on the basis of certain evidence. The fact that there is no evidence of Russia's support to terrorism, it is quite a natural thing, and the fact that the court has to agree on it, is quite a natural thing, either," Novikov said.
"If the court agrees on this, it has to give the appropriate response to the Ukrainian side," he also said.
"Submission of a lawsuit by Ukraine, it is clear that it is a part of an information and political war, which the Ukrainian authorities are waging against Russia, involving different international institutions, such as the UN International Court in The Hague," the committee's first deputy head also said.
As reported earlier, the UN International Court (The Hague) has passed a judgment that there are no reasons for extra measures against Russia in compliance with the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism, a breach of which Ukraine's lawsuit against Russia indicated.
