Rosatom starts design work on 12 bln ruble wind farm in Adygea

KRANSODAR. April 19 (Interfax) - Rosatom's non-nuclear thermal power division JSC OTEK has started design work on the first phase of a 150 MW wind farm in the Republic of Adygea, the regional government's press service said.

OTEK's plans envisage creating one of the highest capacity wind farms in Russia in 2017-2019. Investment in the project amounts to around 12 billion rubles.

OTEK CEO Alexander Korchagin was cited as saying in a statement that the project involves the localization of the production of wind turbines as well as the construction and operation of the wind farm.

Rosatom earlier approved a partnership between OTEK and Dutch wind turbine manufacturer Lagerwey. A joint venture will be formed in 2017.

It is expected that equipment assembly for the Adygea wind farm will begin at the end of 2018. The plans envisage the construction of 60 wind turbines at sites in Shovgenovsky and Giaginsky districts.

"According to the results of wind measurements that were conducted, Adygea has good potential for wind power. The projected annual power generation is at least 300 GWh," Korchagin said.

He said that the experience of building wind farms acquired in Adygea will be transferred to other regions.

Deputy Prime Minister of Adygea Vyacheslav Sapiyev was cited as saying in the statement that the new energy capacity has a wider significance for the development of the region's economy as a whole and the republic's government will maintain the investment project on a "one-stop-shop" basis.
