NATO declines invitation to int't security conference in Moscow

MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) - NATO Military Committee Chairman Petr Pavel has denied media reports that he has not so far responded to the Russian side's invitation to attend an international security conference in Moscow.

"To clarify matters to RUS media on #NATO "silence" - I responded formally to Moscow #Security Conference invitation already on 13 March 17," Pavel wrote on Twitter.

NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller, for her part, said that the invitation had been declined.

"Russian media say @CMC_NATO invite to Moscow conference is pending. No, we declined. Conference has a reputation as unfair to foreign speakers," Gottemoeller wrote on Twitter.

The Moscow Conference on International Security will be held on April 26-27.
