Russia, UAE set to establish strategic partnership - joint statement

MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) - Russia and the United Arab Emirates will treat their relationship as strategic partnership, as Russian President Vladimir Putin and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan agreed at negotiations in Moscow.

The parties declared their intention to turn Russia-UAE relations into strategic partnership and draft a relevant declaration, Putin and Al Nahyan said in a joint statement following the talks.

The Russian president and the crown prince of Abu Dhabi have taken into consideration traditionally friendly relations binding Russia and the UAE and a rich and fruitful record of their bilateral interaction in the political, trade-economic, humanitarian and other areas.

The parties are convinced that consistent development of multifaceted cooperation meets the interests of both countries and serves the cause of regional and global stability in compliance with the principles and goals stipulated in the United Nations Charter, the joint statement said.
