Head of Crimea denies possibility of destabilization in republic

SIMFEROPOL. April 24 (Interfax) - The law enforcement agencies, special services and military fully ensure the security of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, the head of the republic, said.

"Crimea has become a fortress in this regard on the orders of the president. Any attempts to create any destructive situation are useless here," Aksyonov said in an interview shown on NTV, in commenting on the statements containing threats made by the Ukrainian authorities.

"The federal center always helps us, and all services in Crimea are now staffed with qualified personnel. Security measures are taken in full - it's primarily the Federal Security Service, the Interior Ministry, and, of course, the Defense Ministry has enough forces to defend against any aggression. The special services are conducting anti-sabotage work. The situation in Crimea is calm, there are no threats," Aksyonov said.

"Moreover, we clearly understand that our [Russian] security system is only growing stronger, and new technical devices are applied from year to year," Aksyonov said.
