Ten-year-old boy injured in grenade explosion in Dagestan in grave condition, undergoes surgery - Health Ministry
ROSTOV-ON-DON. April 25 (Interfax) - Two of the three persons who suffered the most serious injuries in a grenade explosion at a computer club in Dagestan, a 10-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man, have undergone surgeries, Dagestani Health Minister Tanka Ibragimov told Interfax.
Another 20-year-old is undergoing a planned surgery at the moment.
The ten-year-old boy remains in critical condition after the surgery, as grenade fragments have penetrated his brain, the minister said.
"We are expecting the arrival of chief specialists, a children's surgeon and an emergency physician, from Moscow. They will decide whether this child will be operated on here or can be transferred to Moscow," Ibragimov said.
It had been reported earlier that a helicopter of the Russian National Guard airlifted three patients with the heaviest injuries from the village of Agvali to Makhachkala.
A hand grenade went off at a computer club in Agvali in the Tsumada district of Dagestan at 2 p.m. Moscow time on Monday, the detectives said. Preliminary reports said the incident injured 11 people, including minors. One of them died.
Four of those injured are schoolchildren, and the rest are believed to be college students.
A criminal inquiry has been opened on the counts of causing death by negligence and illegal storage of explosives or explosive devices.
