China will close border with Kyrgyzstan for duration of Labor Day festivities
BISHKEK. April 26 (Interfax) - The border between Kyrgyzstan and China will be closed for passage for three days, the Kyrgyz State Border Service reported.
"At the initiative of the Chinese side in connection with Labor Day festivities, road checkpoints in Torugart and Irkeshtam on the Kyrgyz-Chinese section of the state border will be temporarily closed from April 29 through May 1," Interfax was told by the press service of the State Border Service.
"The passage of individuals, vehicles and cargos will resume on May 2," a spokesman said.
Kyrgyzstan and China have a common border of 858 kilometers. The two international checkpoints are located on the border with China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
