Russian Black Sea Fleet's ship holed in collision with another vessel, no casualties - Russian Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. April 27 (Interfax) - The side of the Liman research ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet was ruptured in a collision with another ship 40 kilometers northwest of the Bosphorus on Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a report.
"There are no casualties aboard. The crew is controlling the damage," the ministry said.
The collision occurred in the southwestern part of the Black Sea, 40 kilometers northwest of the Bosphorus at 11:53 a.m. on Thursday. The Liman collided with MV Ashot-7, the affiliation of which has yet to be established, the ministry said.
The Liman's starboard was breached below the waterline, it said.
"Black Sea Fleet ships were sent to the collision area at noon. An Antonov An-26 plane is conveying a rescue team of the fleet's standby forces there," the ministry said.
