OMV to increase gas purchasing from Gazprom, develop cooperation - Seele

MOSCOW. April 28 (Interfax) - Austrian OMV intends to extend its existing contract with Gazprom and reach agreement to purchase additional gas volumes from the Russian gas giant, OMV CEO Rainer Seele said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

Seele said he and Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, who was also present at the meeting, "plan to speak not only about extending the already existing contracts but purchasing additional volumes."

"Together with Gazprom, we plan to begin joint gas production in Siberia and with this goal, we plan to jointly begin construction of the appropriate infrastructure," Seele said.

"It was an honor for us to receive an invitation from Gazprom to come to Russia as an investor," he said.

Seele also expressed support for construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas export pipeline, in which Gazprom and five foreign companies, including OMV, are participating. "Both I and Alexei Miller are convinced that it makes sense to exert effort to implement the Nord Stream 2 project," Seele said. "Here, by the way, we already have great success, since we were able to secure financing for this project," he said.

"Over the course of 50 years we have always dealt with an honest partner, and we intend to intensify that cooperation," Seele said.
