Turbulence injures 12 Russian passengers of Aeroflot flight - Russian Embassy in Thailand

MOSCOW. May 1 (Interfax) - Turbulence has injured 12 Russian passengers of an Aeroflot flight from Moscow to Bangkok, the Russian Embassy in Bangkok said.

"There is information about 12 Russian citizens who have suffered injuries of various degrees, mostly bone fractures and bruises. Some will need a surgery," the Embassy said on Facebook on Sunday.

"Employees of the Embassy's Consular Department have been visiting the hospital since the morning; they are speaking with the doctors, providing consultations, verifying information about the number of the injured passengers and the degree of their injuries, and making a list of all injured passengers, indicating their citizenship," the Embassy said.

Aeroflot SU270 flight en route from Moscow to Bangkok passed through a zone of turbulence while approaching Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport on May 1. According to the current information, about 20 people were hurt. "The reason for those injuries is that some passengers did not buckle their seatbelts. All the injured were taken to a local hospital," the Embassy said.

The Embassy opened a hotline, +66 90 403-3645, to provide incident updates.

"The list of the injured passengers will soon be posted on the Embassy website," the report said.
