Russia intends to increase grain exports to 49 mln tonnes by 2030
ROSTOV-ON-DON. May 2 (Interfax) - Russia intends to increase grain exports to 48.5 million-49 million tonnes by 2030, Russian Deputy Agriculture Minister Yevgeny Gromyko told journalists on Tuesday during the opening of a grain terminal in Russia's Rostov Region.
"Despite external difficulties, Russia has ambitious plans today. We intend to boost grain exports and bring them to 48.5 million-49 million tonnes by 2030," he said.
Gromyko said that Russian grain exports had increased 26-fold in the past 17 years.
Earlier it was reported that Russian grain exports exceeded 30 million tonnes from July 1 2016 to April 26, 2017.
Russia's Agriculture Ministry forecasts that because supplies to Turkey have been banned, exports this agriculture year (from July 2016-June 2017) will be the same as last year, at 33.9 million tonnes. Earlier the forecast was 35 million tonnes.
