Russia is not interfering in Macedonian conflict - Chizhov

BRUSSELS. May 3 (Interfax) - New elections should probably be held to stop the political crisis in Macedonia, Russian ambassador to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov said.

"I personally understand the situation so that they [in Macedonia] should probably hold a new round of elections," the high-ranking Russian diplomat said answering questions from media representatives in Brussels on Wednesday.

However, he said that this should be decided by the Macedonians themselves.

"We are not interfering in their domestic political crisis. We believe that the ultimate objective is to keep Macedonia as an indivisible country, to save its constitution and give political forces an opportunity to agree on interaction," Chizhov said.

"It is impossible to find a way out of a political crisis by destroying the foundation," he said.
