Ukraine imports $1.2 bln in petroleum products, $771 mln in coal in 4M

KYIV. May 4 (Interfax) - Ukraine imported 2.255 million tonnes of petroleum products (according to foreign economic activity code 2710 - petrol, diesel fuel, fuel oil, jet fuel, etc.) for a total of $1.157 billion in January-April 2017, including $287.335 million in April.

According to the State Fiscal Service, Ukraine imported fuel for $622.329 million from Belarus (a share of 53.78%), for $266.849 million from Russia (23.06%), for $80.049 million from Lithuania (6.92%), and for $187.968 million from other countries (16.24%).

In value, imports of petroleum products in January-April 2017 increased by 50.4% compared to the same period in 2016 ($769.273 million).

In natural terms, imports of petroleum products increased by 10.1% compared to January-April 2016.

At the same time, some 95,578 tonnes of fuel for a total of $44.822 million were exported from Ukraine for the first four months of this year. The cost of fuel delivered to Latvia's counterparties was $9.74 million, Lithuania $7.266 million, Malta $4.639 million, other countries $23.177 million.

In addition, Ukraine in January-April 2017 imported 202,354 tonnes of oil (code 2709) for $92.615 million, in particular for $74.932 million from Azerbaijan, $13.052 million from Kazakhstan, $2.973 million from Russia, $1.658 million from other countries. In April oil imports stood at $10.571 million.

Ukraine imported 4.832 million tonnes of coal and anthracite (foreign economic activity code 2701) worth $770.936 million, including for $201.304 million in April.

Coal worth $433.931 million (56.29% of imports) was imported from Russia, $159.502 million from the United States (20.69%), $54.702 million from Australia (7.1%) and $122.8 million from other countries (15.93%).

Thus, in value terms imports of coal and anthracite for the period increased by 66.2% compared to January-April 2016 while physical imports fell 9.7% to 518,144 tonnes.

At the same time, in January-April Ukraine exported 161,682 tonnes of coal and anthracite for $27.995 million, including $14.82 million to Russia, $8.374 million to Slovakia, $2.566 million to Turkey, and $2.235 million to other countries.

Ukraine exported electricity for $81.899 million in 4M 2017, up 36.2% year-on-year, including $13.779 million in April alone.

Electricity delivered to Hungary amounted to $63.685 million in 4M 2017, to Poland - $16.243 million, Romania - $1.404 and other countries - $568,000.

Ukraine imported power worth $752,000, including $723,000 from Russia, $20,000 from Belarus and $9,000 from Moldova.
