Russia submits to UN Security Council draft resolution in support of memorandum on creation of de-escalation zones in Syria - office of Russian envoy to UN
UN (New York). May 8 (Interfax) - Russia has submitted to the UN Security Council a draft resolution in support of the memorandum on the creation of de-escalation zones in Syria, which was signed in Astana on May 4, Fyodor Strzhizhovsky, press secretary for the office of the Russian envoy to the UN, told Interfax.
"We confirm that the draft resolution has been submitted," he said.
A source in the UN headquarters told the agency that "the voting on the draft document will probably take place this week."
According to earlier reports, a ceasefire was expected to begin in four supposed de-escalation zones in Syria on Saturday, May 6 under the Astana memorandum, which has taken effect.
