Manturov forecasts 3% growth in automobile sales in Russia in 2017

NOVOGORSK. May 12 (Interfax) - The Trade and Industry Ministry is forecasting a 3% growth in automobile sales this year, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said.

"We are forecasting a 3% growth in automobile sales this year," he told journalists in Novogorsk on Friday.

The minister also said that 40,000 rail cars will be produced this year.

According to a PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) forecast, in 2017 sales of new passenger cars, excluding light commercial vehicles, could increase 7% in Russia to 1.4 million units. PwC also expects a 5% growth in heavy goods vehicle (HGV) sales in Russia to 56,000 units. In 2016 HGV sales grew 4% to 53,300 units. The Russian bus market could grow 8% to 11,200 busses having grown 15.4% to 10,400 buses in 2016.
