Watchdog, prosecutor to inspect all plants in southeastern Moscow due to hydrogen sulfide
MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - Russian environmental watchdog Rosprirodnadzor and the Prosecutor General's office will inspect all major plants in southeastern Moscow due to emissions of hydrogen sulfide, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Sergei Donskoi told reporters.
"So far they've only inspected the Moscow Oil Refinery, but the area needs to be expanded," Donskoi said.
"We need to check everyone who could have released hydrogen sulfide. There are also other organizations," the minister said.
A ministry spokesman said Rosprirodnadzor will get the first preliminary results on sample tests for hydrogen sulfide around the Moscow Oil Refinery on Friday.
"The collection of samples for industrial emissions was done by the departmental laboratories of Rosprirodnadzor and the resource use and environmental protection department of Moscow. The analysis results will be ready by May 19," he said.
Donskoi said that the report on the results of the inspections might be presented at the beginning of next week. "They are supposed to report the initial assessments on the samples to me at the end of this - beginning of next week," the minister said.
