RUSADA council of founders may elect agency's general director on May 31 - Russian Deputy PM Mutko

MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - The council of founders of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) will hold a meeting on May 31 and may elect the agency's general director at it, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko said.

"The RUSADA council of founders will hold a session on May 31. The general director may also be elected at it," Mutko told Interfax on Friday.

Up to 700 applications for the post of RUSADA general director have been submitted, he said.

It had been reported earlier that, during an earlier meeting at the WADA headquarters in Montreal, the WADA council of founders approved permission for RUSADA to conduct doping tests after a number of conditions have been met.

These conditions include Russia's obligations to provide access to athletes' 'biological passports', allow anti-doping inspectors to visit restricted-access cities, take steps to rule out any conflict of interest within RUSADA and ensure independence of the head of this organization's supervisory board, which, in particular, includes the replacement of twice Olympic gold medalist Isinbayeva as head of the RUSADA supervisory board.
