Coalition de-conflicted with Russia as soon as it noticed Syrian forces advancing on At Tanf - Pentagon
WASHINGTON. May 19 (Interfax) - The coalition lead by the United States in Syria informed Russia via the established de-confliction line as soon as it noticed the Syrian pro-government forces advancing on At Tanf, the Pentagon said.
"The Coalition de-conflicted with Russian as soon as we noticed the pro-regime forces advancing on At Tanf," a coalition representative told Interfax on Friday.
"The Russian military personnel tried to dissuade pro-regime forces from moving towards the Coalition garrison at At Tanf," the representatives said.
The coalition aircraft also conducted several shows of force and fired warning shots before delivering a strike, the representative said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier on Friday that he was unaware of any warning that the United States had sent to Russia about its plans to strike governmental forces in southern Syria.
