Azerbaijan ready to set up 'peace platform' with Armenia at European Parliament - Baku
BAKU. May 22 (Interfax) - Baku is ready to set up a 'peace platform' between Azerbaijan and Armenia at the European Parliament, Samad Seyidov, chairman of Azerbaijani Milli Mejlis' (parliament) international and inter-parliamentary relations committee, said.
"We are supporters of setting up of 'peace platforms' between Azerbaijan and Armenia at the European Parliament and other international organizations. We speak about that at the European Parliament, at meetings with the parliament's delegation here [in Baku] and at the platforms of other international organizations," Seyidov said at a joint briefing with the delegation of the European Parliament in Baku on Monday.
Baku is ready for negotiations, but everything depends on the Armenian side's readiness, the lawmaker said.
Seyidov said he is convinced that free and open relations between the European and Azerbaijani parliamentary committees will facilitate development of ties between the legislative bodies and will play a significant part in informing the European community about the Karabakh conflict.
