Gazprom sees no reason to dispose of Gazprom Gazenergoset

MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax) - Gazprom sees no reason to dispose of Gazprom Energoset, as rumors surrounding talks for its sale emerged on the market.

Gazprom head of department Kirill Seleznev, responding to a question on the possible talks at a press conference, said: "Obviously this question needs to be asked to whoever held talks with Arkady Rotenberg. I haven't held any talks with him. I don't even see any necessity in the acquisition [sale] of Gazprom Gazenergoset, as this is a company, which acts as a sales operator for liquid hydrocarbon products produced by Gazprom plants."

"Possibly you mean talk about Gazprom liquefied natural gas (LNG) assets that are on the books of this company, but that is a different question. We are currently concluding the last part of the consolidation of LNG assets. As you know, we already owned some of them, and some belonged to gas distributors. We are spinning them off especially as independent companies so that the business is transparent, so we can clearly show the tariff regulator those expenses we incur when selling liquefied gas to households. This process will soon be completed. If someone wants to acquire something from us, let's talk, we will consider it," Seleznev said.

A representative of Arkady Rotenberg also told Interfax that there had not been any talks on the sale of Gazprom Gazenergoset.
