Documents on Eurasian trade partnership could be signed during Xi's Moscow visit - Chinese foreign minister

MOSCOW. May 25 (Interfax) - The process of reaching an agreement on trade and economic partnership between China and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is going productively, one may expect the signing of related documents during the upcoming visit by Chinese leader Xi Jinping to Russia, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said.

"The negotiating process of concluding trade and economic partnership between China and the EAEU is advancing fruitfully, significant results are already evident. Also, a list of projects is now being formed for integration between China and the EAEU Economic Council," Wang said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

China supports the president's initiative to create Eurasian partnership, Wang said.

The Chinese Ministry, along with the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, are considering the possibility of launching a process of creating Eurasian trade partnership, he said. "One may expect, and sign, relevant documents as early as during the president's upcoming visit [to Russia]," Wang said.

China may discuss with Russia issues concerning the integration in accordance with the national development strategy till 2030 Russia has approved, the minister said.

"We are constantly looking to expand spheres of cooperation," Wang said.

"The joint construction of the One Belt, One Road is entirely in China's and Russia's common and long-term interests. Russia has always been our most important partner, strategic partner in forming the One Belt, One Road," Wang said.

Wang conveyed "best wishes and warm greetings" to Putin from the Chinese president.
