Russia supplies Nigeria with combat helicopters - FSMTC

MOSCOW. May 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is implementing a contract to supply Mil Mi-35 combat helicopters for the Nigerian Air Force, Anatoly Punchuk, deputy head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), told Interfax on Thursday.

"The contract has been signed, its implementation is under way," Punchuk said during the HeliRussia-2017 helicopter exhibition on Thursday.

According to available data, at issue are 12 helicopters. The first two were delivered in December 2016, another two in April of this year.

Experts note that it is this class of helicopters that Nigeria needs, given its fight against Boko Haram, an Islamic terrorist group.
