Court arrest 4 suspects of plotting terror attacks in Moscow until July 25

MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax) - Moscow's Meshchansky District Court has sanctioned the arrest of three more defendants in the case of plotting terror attacks on Moscow transport, an Interfax correspondent reported.

"The court has ruled: the investigation's motion to uphold, to impose a restrictive measure in the form of the arrest on [Abdushukur] Gulmirzayev until July 25," Judge Irina Akkuratova said in a ruling on Friday.

The court sanctioned arrest of two other defendants in the case, Furkat Kushayev and Magomed Davudov, until the same date.

It was reported earlier that the court ordered the arrest of Mukhammadyusuf Ashurov, who is also a defendant in this case.

None of the defendants objected to the arrest.

Ashurov, Gulmirzayev, Kushayev, and Davudov are suspected of an attempted terror attack, participation in a terrorist group, illegal trafficking of weapons and ammunition as part of an organized group, illegal trafficking of explosive substances as part of an organized group and illegal manufacturing of explosive devices as part of an organized group.

The defendants pleaded guilty, an Interfax source said.

Meanwhile, one of defendants told reporters prior to the hearing that another defendant had plotted the terror attack.

"My friend Ashurov plotted the bombing. I didn't plot anything. He brought weird boxes to the apartment; he had friends from Syria that had informed him," Gulmirzayev said at the court.

He said he had not joined the Islamic State.

Davudov said at the court that he works illegally as a forklift operator at a Coca-Cola plant. He was born in Dagestan and rented a flat in Moscow before his detention.

Kushayev, Ashurov, and Gulmirzayev are Uzbek citizens; they are unemployed and unregistered in Russia.

According to the case files, all defendants are skilled in conspiracy and resisting law enforcement structures.

Only Gulmirzayev has a wife and a child, other men are unmarried and childless.

The Russian Federal Security Service's (FSB) Center for Public Relations reported earlier the detention of four members of a terrorist group comprised Russian and Central Asian citizens that had plotted terror attacks on Moscow's transportation infrastructure facilities.

According to FSB, the leadership of the group, which is a part of the Islamic State, was executed from the territory of Syria.

The Islamic State (ISIL) is a terrorist group banned in Russia.
